I went through something similar when I upgraded my OpenSuse to 10.3. It's amazing how much better the current version is.

I started with writing about an operating system upgrade on one of the two systems (the K machine) I use most frequently. I use Kubuntu Linux (the Ubuntu distribution adjusted for the KDE desktop, one of several window managers for Linux) on that system and upgraded it from the 6.10 distribution (Edgy) through 7.04 (Fiesty) to the "latest and greatest" 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon as pictured). Adept Manager, used on KDE desktops, handles software upgrades (downloaded from the web where they reside in repositories).

Amarok, written for the KDE desktop, plays media files (audio like MP3) for Linux users. Amarok visualizers put up a graphics display based on the audio files (sorta like crossing a screen saver and a "light show"). Gray Ponytail Radio (no commercials) might appeal to people who once called themselves "freeks" and now listen to Internet radio streams (like me). More?
